Now that we are in Florida there doesn’t seem to be as much time left to blog!
Yesterday
This was our first full day in Ft. Myers. We slept late, did the laundry and then drove around Ft. Myers. We drove by City of Palms Park – nothing much happening, no game in progress. We also drove to the Player Development Complex. As many times as we have come to Spring training, we have never seen the Minor League facility. And we were basically curious! There seemed to be some activity, but we weren’t sure what was happening. We did later find out that the Puerto Rican World Classic Baseball team was practicing there. We also scouted out some restaurants for a gathering of friends that we are having on St. Patrick’s Day. We did well with this venture.
We found a cute Irish Pub that is having some entertainment and Corned Beef and Cabbage. It was recommended by at least 2 different people and I think it will be just fine. We also found a restaurant that has live Blues music on Monday nights. It looked like a nice place and we decided to go back later in the evening. That was a good decision: great music, a little dancing and some fun.
Today
We rose early to have coffee and doughnuts at the clubhouse. It seemed like a good way to meet some people. We were right. Met more new people and had fun sharing stories with them. After such an early breakfast we got the RV ready and travelled to Davenport, FL to visit with friends. We had fun touring their RV Park and had a little happy hour with everyone. As it is quite cool by Florida standards, we came in early to get out of the cold! (As cold as it is, it does not have to be shoveled and we are quite happy!)
Tomorrow
We will be going to the Orlando Fairgrounds for the WIT Florida State Rally. We have never been to this rally but have heard that it is great fun. We are looking forward to meeting other friends and making a few new ones.
That brings you all up to day for now. We are enjoying our vacation and can’t wait for the weather to warm up a bit!
