Staycation - Version 1

Due to the high cost of gasoline, everyone is talking about doing a staycation. That’s a vacation that you take at home, playing the tourist in your own town/city. I am not sure why it takes gas at $4 per gallon to “force” us to look around in our own backyard, but I guess the grass is always greener somewhere else.

This was actually a vacation and it really didn’t’ involve the RV. But, it was so impressive and almost left me speechless, that I have to write about it. Last Wedneday night, we went to a blues on the beach concert. We have it every year and we try to arrange our schedule to get to every single performance. We are blessed with wonderful musicians in the local area and it is always a pleasure to watch them enjoying themselves playing for the home crowd. And we love to dance to them. Well, Wednesday was the first performance of the year and a good friend was playing. We were able to arrive early. Usually, we just can’t seem to make it on time. But the time we walk up on the deck, it is crowded, the music has started and everyone is dancing, So, we just join in. This week, however, we were a bit early and as I walked up onto the deck, I got an amazing view of the Atlantic Ocean, with a small sailboat on the horizon, pure white sail against the sparking blue of the sky and the sea. It was, literally, breathtaking. It did, in fact, take me breath away. The panoramic seascape was spectacular.

The next day, I had a need to go to the local library. After I picked up the book I had requested, I started to walk quickly back to the car. On the spur of the moment, I decided that I would walk through the park. It is a lovely, well-manicured oasis. We don’t appreciate it enough. I even stopped to look at the runaway bunny. I sat a read the book a bit and was totally refreshed. Loved it

The moral of this entry – look around you, you will find something lovely and peasant to do.
