Crossville, TN

Our goal for the last leg of our trip was to visit Crossville, TN. We have visited in the past and would consider it as a retirement location. So, we wanted to visit again.

Many of the new friends that we met in Lynchburg actually live in Crossville or nearby. So, it was good way to make friends before we commit to relocation!

We loved Crossville again this year. It feels like "home". We have met people that live there, we have eaten at two Mexican restaurants, had a great lunch, eaten at another restaurant that has great early-bird specials. We walked through a furniture store, did business at an RV repair shop. (We needed new batteries!). We even found a dive bar that had music that was too loud and beers that were only $1.25. We did some grocery shopping and we visited areas north and south of the center of town. All were great areas. But, they seemed too remote and secluded for us. We want to be close to the center of town, using city utilities and not having to travel 20 minutes. I know many of you would disagree. But, we found a great community right in town. It is, in fact, an RV community. Each house has an RV garage and perhaps a car garage. All - or at least most - residents are current or past RVers! It was great community. The houses were large and small. Some had all the amenities that you could think of and then a few more. Others were a bit simpler and seemed to be reasonable retirement homes. And if none of those appealed to us, we could always build a new home on one of several lots available. We could have found a house that we liked and that was sized and priced right for us. There is only one stumbling block - we still own a home that will not sell! Oh well, we just have to be patient. But, while we wait, we know that we have found our next home. It will be in Crossville, TN.
