While in ABQ, we were able to meet two Gas Balloonist, Barbara and Peter. They gave an informative presentation on ballooning and the ABQ Fiesta, in particular.
They were to be participants in the America's Challenge Gas Balloon Race. While the start of this race was delayed for many days due to weather considerations, it did finally begin just after midnight on Saturday morning. We had already left ABQ, but were able to track the balloons on-line. It was facinating to "watch" the progress of six participants. Barbara and Peter went the farthest - the metric for this race - and landed this morning somewhere near Detroit, some 1350 miles from ABQ, and over 57 hours aloft!
