It seems to me that an RV takes on two different personae while on an RV road trip. The first persona is to be a vehicle/house. As you travel down the highways and byways in the vehicle, you have all the "house" has to offer. Walk back to take a potty break. This is increasingly important as we age!! Hungry? Just stop and fix lunch. If it is cold outside, just heat up some soup and watch the cold weather outside your window. On our recent trip down to Florida, we did just that. The soup was warm and comforting, even though the cold was depressing. Need to stop for a night. pull into any campground or Wal-Mart, and just stop. The house is there ready to service your needs - with your own bed.
The second persona arrives when you get to your destination. Usually a destination that you will visit for some period of time, at least a few days. Sometimes this visit stretches to a month or more. In this situation, the "vehicle" part of the persona more or less disappears. The house that you travelled in becomes a true "home". You have everything that you need. You can cook, if you enjoy that. I do. You can eat in the dinning room or you can out in the yard. You sleep in your own bed. You can sit out and enjoy the trees, the campfire, if you build one, and listen to the quiet of the creatures around. I guess this assumes that you have selelcted a rustic campground. If not, you might be out and about, making friends with other campers. And as you visit the area you have temporarily settled in, you return to your own home. In this persona, the RV becomes your home. It is just that your backyard changes from destination to destination.
I guess that is why we love to RV.
