Not all states have a question. But it seems that New Mexico does. We have been educated while here in Albuquerque! The question is “Red or Green?”
And an appropriate answer is: “Christmas on the side.”
The question is one that is often asked in restaurants. Would you like red or green chile with that? And the response indicates that you would like some of both – but on the side so that you can test it’s heat – spicy heat, that is.
Another way to answer the question is to ask the server which is hotter today and, if you so desire, order the other one!! Either way, remember that “heat” is relative and one person’s mild is another one’s very hot. But, enjoy New Mexican cuisine – it is wonderful!!
