We have left Florida - it is a distant memory. Well not all that distant - about 400 miles or so. And not "a" memory - more like a billion. But, it is now history and we have said goodbye to Fort Wilderness and Mickey and Minnie and the whole cast of characters.
We left "The Fort" at about 8:40 this morning. We had a bit of traffic in Jacksonville. And while the traffic was generally good, the driving was tough. Route 95 is just not a good road and there was construction at every turn. Add to that a high wind and it was a day we decided to cut a bit short.
We had planned to get into SC, but instead, we stopped at Ft. McAllister in Richmond Hills, GA. We stayed here on the way down and liked it. So, we thought we would give it another try.
It is a quiet, forest setting that just seems so nice. There are birds and squirrels and trees galore. And it is very rustic. We are not really roughing tonight. We have good internet connection and TV reception. But, the Red Sox-Yankees game on XM seems to cut in and out (we will find the right location for the antenna!). But, we are hearing enough to know that it may be a long night for Schilling.
We just went out for a walk and as I walked down the path, the memories of this past week, seemed to come flooding back. I couldn't help it. I just kept asking the same questions that I have asked all week:
Do you think we just missed the Outpost Yellow bus? What time does Magic Kingdom close? Which park is open late tonight? Do you want to take the boat to Magic Kingdom and then the monorail to Epcot - or do you think the bus would be better? Should we Fast Pass this ride?
Where do you wnat to go next?
Tonight these questions have no meaning!
Tomorrow our goal is southern Virginia. Hope the wind subsides.
Happy Trails.
